Do you want to visit the Princess Diana 3D Virtual Museum? If yes, then why don’t you browse the Catherine Walker Collection! This collection was named after Catherine Walker — one of the favorite designers of Princess Diana. To showcase her legacy, The Princess Diana Museum prides on displaying three beautiful dresses and a navy blazer designed by Catherine Walker. Each dress from this collection reflects a unique side of Princess Diana’s fashion evolution.

The Catherine Walker couture has the beaded blue grey Taroni silk cocktail dress, identical to the one worn by Princess Diana during a London Gala Preview for the auction of her dresses i.e. 2nd June 1997. This beautiful dress has beadings and embroideries in high relief with roses and scattered petals in silver threads and motifs at the bodice edge which is encrusted further with diamante.

The late designer Catherine Walker had her own approach that she always tries to give a three-dimensional quality to embroidery by tilting the image and the texture. The diamante and bugle beads are so dense that they emerge from the fabric surface like the sugar made florets.

This collection includes the navy wool blazer from the Princess Diana’s Chelsea design company from the late 1980s and early 1990s. This blazer is double-breasted with sharp lapels and gilt metal buttons bearing the Royal Arms of England (Three Cast Lions Passant Guardant). It comes with diagonally slanted pockets and is aligned in blue acetate.

The Catherine Walker Collection has the Princess Diana’s Catherine Walker navy wool day dress with circa 1989 bearing “Catherine Walker for Chelsea Design Co.” label. Diana wore this dress for private and non-official engagement parties which reflect the stylish working wardrobe of Princess Diana.

After that, you will get to see the Catherine Walker printed peach silk polka dot coat dress bearing “Catherine Walker for Chelsea Design Co.” label double-breasted or loose cut. This dress has a slimmer fitting skirt and padded shoulders lined in white silk.

Princess Diana wore this beautiful dress on four public functions which are discussed below:

  • Princess Diana attended Order of the Garter Ceremony with Prince Charles during June 13th 1988 and wore this dress along with a peach sailor bonnet, rear bow, and upturned brim and single strand pearl choker.
  • Princess Diana had worn this dress on July 12, 1988 to Welcome President Evren of Turkey on a State Visit with Prince Charles. She accessorized it with a peach sailor bonnet and a double strand pearl choker.
  • Her majesty wore this beautiful dress on July 12, 1989 during her visit to The Freeman Hospital and Percy Hedley School in Newcastle Upon Tyne. She accessorized this dress with white clutch bag and court shoes.
  • Princess Diana wore this dress on May 15, 1991 for an International Spinal Research Charity event at the Langham Hilton Hotel, London. She paired this dress with peach leather shoes.
